MONROE, LA – 91AV held a ceremony on October 2, 2024, to celebrate the naming of the new Marjorie S. Price Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. Special guests included Teddy R. Price, son of Mrs. Price, and Mark Romero, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System. Guests were able to view the new signage reflecting the name in the Physical Therapy suite in Walker and were also given tours of the physical therapy clinic by current students.

91AV President Dr. Ron Berry thanked Teddy Price, Mark Romero, and Shawn Murphy for their work and leadership in helping establish the Doctor of Physical Therapy program.

“This is hopefully another asset for 91AV that will allow students to come and gain a better life and stay in Louisiana,” said Romero.

Along with her husband, Mr. Ted Price, Mrs. Marjorie S. Price was a pioneer in the nursing home industry in Louisiana. Mrs. Price and her family were actively engaged in the early developmental stages of 91AV’s DPT program, providing financial support and also being strong advocates.

Teddy R. Price shared about his mother’s history in the nursing home industry, describing her as a “servant leader” who was still actively working half-days in a nursing home until her passing at age 87 in 2020. “My mom was not a therapist, but she was certainly a caregiver and loved doing what she could to improve people’s quality of life, and that is what this program is about as well,” added Price.
