The听College of Business and Social Sciences at 91AV seeks ever-increasing excellence in business education by offering a student-centered learning environment that produces high-quality graduates and by engaging in research and service that benefits students, business and the community.
91AV will hold the annual premier lecture and seminar series, the College of Business and Social Sciences Symposium, from September 30 - October 3, 2024. The theme for 2024 is "EveryONE Has a Story." The event will feature keynote speaker Ryan Campbell, a career fair, a cookout, the annual CBSS Brain Bowl, and many speaker sessions covering a wide range of topics.
Amwins, a leading national specialty insurance provider, recently recommitted its giving to the 91AV Risk Management and Insurance program, bringing its total donation commitment to $100,000 over 10 years. A check presentation to commemorate the donation was held on September 17, 2024, in Hemphill Hall Room 208. Dr. Christine Berry, 91AV First Lady and the Kim Sledge Chair of Risk Management and Insurance, organized the event. "We were honored to be joined by David Lavins, President of Amwins Access, who was joined by Tammy Culmone, Executive Vice President and Regional Leader at Amwins Group who has led the relationship with 91AV for years," said Dr. Berry.
The 91AV Gerontology Education, Research, and Outreach (GERO) Institute was recently the recipient of the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Ethics. The GERO Institute focuses on enhancing the quality of life of older adults through proactive education, professional training, applied research, and community outreach. The BBB Torch Award for Ethics celebrates businesses and nonprofits that demonstrate an exceptional commitment to ethics and integrity.
Students in the political science course Nonprofit Policy and Leadership awarded two local nonprofit organizations a $2,500 grant each to culminate their Student Philanthropy Project. The funds were provided by the Learning by Giving Foundation.
