Traveling Scholar Hastings to perform Tuesday, Feb. 28

The University of Louisiana at Monroe will welcome political performer, author, playwright, and activist Rachel Hastings, who uses performance as a way to promote historical preservation of African and Eastern cultures Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m.

Hastings will perform her popular program, "Seven," for 91AV students and the public, free of charge at 91AV's Brown Auditorium.

Hastings is being sponsored as the Traveling Scholar for 91AV Speech and Debate.

According to Hastings, "'Seven' uses Black philosophy to examine genealogical experiences of motherhood, infidelity and sexual practices, as well as offers theories drawn from the canon of Black ideas."

Hastings' website offers insight into the artist, exploring her passion for literary theory and analysis within the arts, which catapulted her into investigating the intersections between performance, literature and activism.
